How Bent Ear started
After a sudden career change, I found myself at a crossroads: go back to big tech, or finally chase my dream of being a working artist. I've always had a background in the arts, with a love of metalsmithing, painting, and ceramics, and an equally deep love of vintage treasures. Bent Ear is where those two passions meet: a place for unique pieces, whether they come from the past or from my own workshop.
Vintage with a story
I source vintage pieces from across New England and at estate auctions. I'm drawn to the weird, the unusual, and sometimes the gloriously gaudy. So much jewelry today is designed in 3D software and cast by the thousand, and it has no soul. The pieces I pick up have already lived a life, and I believe they deserve another one.
Handmade in Maine
My handmade work is smithed in silver and copper, often from recycled materials. I rarely start with a plan. Designs come straight from my head, take shape at the bench, and somehow always come together.
Meet the crew
Mr. Biscuits is a snorty pocket bully, part American Bully and part English Bulldog, with one ear up and one bent over, which is where the shop got its name. He was rescued along with his life partner, Belly Buttons, and the two of them love rolling around the yard, playing tag, and snoozing in the sun. Mr. Biscuits is a sleepy, snack-loving cuddler, but when he's feeling spunky, he'll run laps around the house or challenge Belly Buttons to a wrestling match.
My wife Bekah and I live in Sanford, Maine. We love our weird little town and are proud to represent Maine-made goods.
